Got Your Back Sista and Jodie’s Place Refuge
We are also proud supporters of Jodie’s Place Refuge near Cessnock. Our involvement started in 2015 when our Practice Director, Amber Moncrieff, heard about the service struggling after a break-in and discovered they had no website or on-line donations facility. Amber established both, funding them into the years ahead. The team then got involved with fundraising, as did our patients by helping to organise several fundraising events, including movie nights bringing total funds raised to close to $20,000 in under 2 years! These funds were used to renovate Jodie’s Place, making it more welcoming and practical, including a refreshed safer bathroom and to open a 4th bedroom suitable for another woman and her children.
We have also donated over $3000 in the past two years to Got Your Back Sista to help women and children lead happier, safer lives.
We also support breast cancer fundraising. We have run Pink Ribbon team events every year since 2009, donating over bringing our total Pink Ribbon donations to over $5000. We also sponsored the Open Women’s Division of Tubes 4 Boobs, raising funds for the Cancer Council’s breast cancer programs.
In the past 2 year we have donated funds or gifts for charity auctions to: Interplast (providing surgery for children and adults with burns, cleft palates etc in Asia), the Cancer Council, Feb Fast, Yalari (Indigenous Education) and Brave Hearts.
We supported the Women’s Pro Competition of Surfest in 2017, 2019, 2019 and 2020, 2022 and 2023 (Surfest was not held in 2021 due to Covid).
And in 2020 the entire team donated over $2500 to the NSW RFS, Redcross and WIRES to help volunteers helping people and animals impacted by widespread bushfires.
As you can imagine, we are regularly asked to help with new charities and community projects and can’t assist in every case. For us the criteria are:
Please understand that we are unable to help in every case, no matter how worthy the cause may be.
