Laser Vein Treatments

The Treatment

About

We can treat the tiny red veins on the face called telangiectasia, the red or purple spider veins on the face or body, or mid-size blue leg veins. Our laser delicately heats these vessels to eliminate them.

Your Consultation

Our Dermal Therapist will provide a comprehensive assessment and treatment plan at your first visit, including a test patch. The cost of this consultation is $100 which is rebated against any further non-surgical treatment you have within 3 months of your consultation.

Appointment Duration

The length of time depends on the size of the treatment area but each treatment typically takes 5 to 30 minutes.

FAQS

The number depends on the quantity, colour and size of the vessels being treated, but typically one to three treatments are sufficient.

Patients may experience a mild to moderate stinging sensation as the pulses of light are delivered to the skin. A cooling mechanism is built into the handpiece to minimize the discomfort and protect the skin’s surface. No local anaesthesia or pain medication is necessary but some may opt to apply a topical anaesthetic or ice.

Small vessels usually disappear immediately. Larger vessels, especially on the legs often look worse before they look better but will clear up over a matter of weeks or months. Wearing sunscreen regularly will help.

Yes. Hundreds of thousands of these laser treatments have been done to date. As with all medical procedures there is a slight degree of risk, and we will discuss this with you thoroughly when you come in for your consultation.

The best candidates for laser treatments for veins are those with tiny to mid-size veins on their face or body. This treatment is not used to treat raised varicose veins. We will evaluate whether your veins are appropriate for this treatment (or another) at the time of your consultation.

Our Cutera laser technology doesn’t involve needles and it minimizes any bruising or irritation of the surrounding skin. We can treat the very small veins on the face up to the larger veins on the legs.

It is important to note that not all lasers are the same. Our Cutera laser is a powerful and effective medical grade laser, unlike so many of the lasers in the market. And not all places offering laser are the same – at Hunter Plastic Surgery you have the confidence of knowing our laser is only operated by our trained Registered Nurses or Dermal Therapists.

We understand that sometimes things change! Given the high demand for consultations, all we ask that clients give us at least 2 full working days notice (by phone – 4920 7700) if they are not going to be able to attend at their scheduled time to allow us to contact people on our wait-list to reallocate the time.

If appointments are cancelled or rescheduled by the patient with less than 2 full working days notice they will lose their $50 deposit. We reserve the right to decline requests to subsequently rebook for the same client.
