Many patients find they want to bring an adult friend or family member, although others prefer to come alone. We are usually happy for you to bring one adult support person, subject to Covid-19 restrictions applicable at the time.
A referral from your regular GP is a good idea if you are seeing Dr Moncrieff as it will allow you to claim part of the cost of your consultation from Medicare. It is currently just over $75. Many common plastic surgery operations have medical benefits (such as breast reductions and tummy tucks) so may attract a modest Medicare rebate and private heath fund coverage so a referral is a must for these procedures!
No sorry. Our insurance does not cover children under 12 in our clinic.
Plastic Surgery is an adult service and we ask that children under 12 are not brought with you to any appointments at Hunter Plastic Surgery before, during or after your procedure. That ensures that Dr Moncrieff and our team are able to provide you with a valuable consultation without distractions. We also have sensitive medical equipment in our clinic which is not always compatible with curious minds and hands which have led to safety, sterility and privacy issues in the past.
If you have not arranged care outside the clinic for children and this results in the requirement to change your appointment, our normal cancellation policy applies (requiring 2 full working days notice).
It is strongly encouraged that you learn a little about your procedure of interest prior to first consultation by referring to the information about common procedures under the Procedures tab. Many of the cosmetic procedures feature a 3D Animation which provides a good insight into the way in which concerns may be addressed through treatment.
Our Administration Team will prepare a quote for you reflecting the options available and send it to you after your consultation. The quote will include information about how to book your procedure in if you decide to go ahead. Our surgeon does not discuss fees as his focus is on understanding your goals and then providing expert advice about the surgical options to help achieve them. We invite you to discuss pricing with our Administration Team.
We usually ask that you attend a second consultation if you want to proceed with surgery which is free of charge. This allows time for you to consider all the information you have been given, prepare questions and conduct your own research.
Given the high demand for consultations, we ask that patients give us at least 2 full working days notice (by phone - 4920 7700) if they are not going to be able to attend at their scheduled time to allow us to contact people on our wait-list to reallocate the time.
If appointments are cancelled or rescheduled by the patient with less than 2 full working days notice they will attract a charge of the full consultation fee. This will result in the forfeiture of your deposit. If you subsequently book another appointment, the normal consultation fee will apply.
Appointments can only be rescheduled once, or the initial fee is lost and the full consultation fee will be payable again.
We reserve the right to decline requests to subsequently rebook for the same patient.
Please do not attend if you are unwell or may have been exposed to corona virus.
Dr Moncrieff will discuss your medical history, your concerns and your goals. He will also discuss your surgical and non-surgical options including risks and potential benefits.
Dr Moncrieff’s consultation fee for a 30 minute cosmetic surgery appointment is $350. This fee is subject to a Medicare rebate just over $75 if you have a doctor’s referral.
For women considering breast surgery, you may like to book a $100 Vectra breast surgery simulation with our Practice Manager. The cost is rebated against your consultation with Dr Moncrieff if it is booked within 12 months. More information about this service, and to book online, please visit our Vectra page.
We always welcome back existing patients, including those who wish to have new procedures after positive experiences with us. Returning patients should be aware that they may require a new referral (GP referrals expire after a year and specialist referrals expire after 3 months). If the consultation is about a new procedure or is booked 12 months after discharge from a previous procedure, a new consultation fee will be charged.
